AI Tools for LinkedIn Posts: Drafting, Design, Scheduling and Risks

Writing a LinkedIn post takes ten minutes when you know what to say and an hour when you do not. AI tools can speed up the draft, but LinkedIn has said it will push generic AI posts down.

Updated 8 min read

The AI tools for LinkedIn posts you need depend on the job: ChatGPT for drafts, Canva for carousels, Buffer or a LinkedIn-only tool for scheduling. LinkedIn said in May 2026 that it pushes generic AI posts down in recommendations, so edit every draft with your own examples. Avoid tools that automate likes, comments or messages.

This guide sorts the main tools by job, flags the risky ones, and gives a short edit checklist.

  1. 1Pick the jobdraft, design or schedule
  2. 2Give real materialyour notes and numbers
  3. 3Edit hardyour voice, your example
  4. 4Format and postone clear idea
  5. 5Review resultsenquiries, not likes

What LinkedIn does with generic AI posts

LinkedIn does not ban AI-written posts. Fast Company reported that on 20 May 2026 LinkedIn’s product lead said generic AI posts and comments would be pushed down in recommendations. The rollout is gradual.

The The Next Web reports that flagged posts stay visible to your connections and followers but are kept out of wider recommendations. LinkedIn claims it caught generic content 94% of the time in early tests, and has not shared its false-positive rate.

We found no evidence that LinkedIn labels AI-written text. Labels are used for AI-generated images. The practical point is simple: a draft with your own example in it is safe, and a draft that could belong to anyone is not.

Tools by job

Most people need one writing tool, one design tool and one scheduler. Several tools mix these jobs.

Jasper is a marketing content platform for teams. For a single person posting on LinkedIn, a general assistant and a scheduler cover most needs. For general writing and design tools beyond LinkedIn, see our guide to AI content creation tools.

Safe and risky tool types

The risk is not the writing. It is what the tool does to your account. LinkedIn’s rules, as described on pages that quote them, ban bots, scraping and software that likes, comments or sends invites for you. Accounts that break the rules can be restricted.

Account risk by tool type
Tool typeExampleRisk
Writing assistant you copy fromChatGPTLow. You post it yourself
Scheduler using LinkedIn’s permitted connectionBufferLow
Browser extension for formattingAuthoredUpLow to medium. LinkedIn’s warning notice appears on AuthoredUp’s help page
Automated outreach or engagementTaplio Pro outreach, any comment botHigh. This is the category LinkedIn polices

We could not open LinkedIn’s own help pages in our checks. Read “Prohibited software and extensions” and “Automated activity on LinkedIn” in LinkedIn’s Help Centre before you pay for any automation.

Also avoid AI-written comments. They break the same rules and are the most visible kind of generic content.

Drafting steps that keep your voice

  1. Choose one reader and one point. For example: owners of small clinics who want more enquiries, and one point about why their website does not convert.
  2. Supply real material. Paste your own notes, a client question, or a number from your work. Tell the tool to use only what you gave it.
  3. Generate two drafts. Compare them, take the best line from each, and drop the rest.
  4. Add what only you know. Insert a short example, a mistake you made or a result you saw.
  5. Format and post. Short lines, one idea, a plain closing question or next step. Reply to comments yourself.

Example prompt: “Using only the notes below, write a LinkedIn post of about 150 words for owners of small clinics. Open with a specific problem. Do not invent statistics or client names. Notes: ...”

Frequency and format: what the data says

Be careful with LinkedIn “rules” you see online. Many numbers circulate with no source. These three have a named study.

So aim for a steady two or three posts a week, try a carousel now and then, and judge each format by enquiries, not likes. For how LinkedIn content gets picked up by AI answers, read our guide to LinkedIn AI search optimization.

Edit checklist before you post

  • Is there one example only you could have written?
  • Does it contain any number or name the AI supplied? Check or remove it.
  • Would the first line make sense if three other people posted it?
  • Have you cut stock openers, long lists of adjectives and tidy summaries?
  • Does it end with one clear next step?

Final thoughts

AI is useful for LinkedIn when it handles the slow parts: first drafts, structure, carousel layout and scheduling. It is a weak substitute for the thing readers follow you for, which is your own experience.

Pick tools by job, avoid automation that touches likes, comments or messages, and edit every post until it sounds like you. If you want a team to plan and run this, see our LinkedIn marketing service and social media services. Digital BizStar works from Guduvancherry, Chennai.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best AI tools for LinkedIn posts?

It depends on the job. ChatGPT works for drafts, Canva for carousels, Buffer for scheduling, and Taplio, MagicPost or Postiv if you want a LinkedIn-focused platform. None replaces your own examples, and each has limits listed in the table above.

Are there free AI tools for LinkedIn content creation?

Yes. ChatGPT and Canva have free tiers, Buffer has a free plan for three channels, and Postiv offers a free carousel generator with a watermark. Taplio and MagicPost offer trials, not free plans.

Can AI write LinkedIn posts automatically?

It can draft them, and some tools will schedule them without review. We advise against posting unreviewed drafts, because LinkedIn pushes generic AI posts down and an unedited post can contain invented facts.

How can I make AI-generated LinkedIn posts sound human?

Give the tool your real notes, then add your own example, cut stock phrases and read the post aloud. If a sentence could appear on anyone’s profile, rewrite it with something specific from your work.

How much do these tools cost?

Prices checked on 14 October 2026, in US dollars: Taplio from $39 a month (no AI) and $69 with AI, Buffer from $5 per channel after its free plan, Jasper Pro $59 per seat a month billed yearly, MagicPost Growth $29 a month billed yearly, Postiv $99 a month. Typefully prices differ between sources, so check its pricing page. See Taplio’s pricing page, Buffer’s pricing page and Jasper’s pricing page.

How often should I publish on LinkedIn?

Buffer’s analysis found 2 to 5 posts a week works best, with more posts adding reach but smaller gains. Start with two a week and keep that pace for a month before changing anything.
